The Faculty of Law seeks students that are striving to acquire a deep and broad cultural understanding of law and politics, as well as the ability to solve the complex problems that our society is currently facing in this increasingly specialized and global world. We expect students who complete this program to possess the necessary abilities and skills to effectively contribute to both the local and international communities in the increasingly borderless field of law and politics.
Applicants are sought with the following qualities and abilities:
- Students with general education and knowledge specific to social sciences, in particular students who possess strong Japanese writing and comprehension skills, a solid grasp of foreign languages, and the ability to think logically and scientifically.
[Required competences: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression] - Students who are enthusiastic about acquiring specialized knowledge in law and political science, while utilizing the knowledge and skill-sets mentioned above.

- Applicants should have acquired the following abilities in high school, etc.:
- Japanese Language: reading comprehension, communication, ability to express oneself in writing, logical thinking
- Geography and History/Civics: general knowledge of society, analytical skills to understand various social issues
- Mathematics: problem solving and creativity
- Science: comprehensive understanding of natural sciences and logical thinking
- Foreign Language: reading comprehension, communication, ability to express oneself in writing
Basic Policy for the Selection of Students:
In order to select students who possess these skills in accordance with its Diploma Policy and Curriculum Policy, the Faculty of Law will assess applicants' individual competences by administering exams in the following admission categories:
- General entrance examination: knowledge and technique; and critical thinking, good judgement and expression.
- “Kokorozashi” special entrance examination: basic knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; initiative and cooperativeness; and interest and motivation.
- Special entrance examination for privately funded international students: knowledge and technique; critical thinking, good judgement and expression; initiative and cooperativeness; and interest and motivation.
