Hardware and software engineers and researchers for a high information society

In recent years, Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been expanding due to rapid advancements in all engineering disciplines, covering an ever-widening range of academic and professional programs. The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering offers a balanced interdisciplinary program of core subjects and scientific and technological fields of physical science and electronics engineering; computer, information science and systems engineering; electric power/energy and power electronic systems engineering; and control systems engineering.

Structure and Divisions

The academic and professional core courses in this Department are categorized into two divisions: Physical Electronics and Computer and Information Engineering.

Division of Physical Electronics

This Division offers scientific and technological training as well as interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research projects, which are primarily concerned with the major education and research programs in electromagnetic fields and waves, solid-state physical engineering, quantum physics and electronics, electrical and electronic material science, semiconductor electronics, sensor devices, nanoelectronics, photonic devices, surface physics and electronics, superconducting physics and electronics, optics and optoelectronics, high-energy physics, plasma electronics, and bio-science and engineering. There is also training in the core subjects, including applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, and mechanics.

Division of Computer and Information Engineering

This Division offers education from a scientific and technological approach, combined with sophisticated hardware and software research projects. Our programs cover electric and electronic circuit theory, integrated circuit design and systems, computer and communication systems, wearable computing, ubiquitous and ad-hoc networks, information networks, information transmission, information theory, coding theory, data compression, digital broadcasting, information and network security, data structures and algorithms, graph theory, software design, image processing, control engineering, optimization theory, pattern recognition, fuzzy theory and neural networks, and intelligent machines.

Functional Thin-Film Engineering

This course includes cooperative education and research with Panasonic Corporation. We provide special materials, devices, circuits, and systems to establish green innovation products based on wide-bandgap semiconductor materials, carbon-based materials, power electronics, and energy harvesting technologies.

Our education goals (Master’s Program)

This is a systematic education and research program covering the science and technology at the heart of modern society, from the fundamentals to advanced courses. We aim to produce individuals who will operate the hardware and software technology in a high-information society, combining advanced study and research skills.
