From September 18-22, the “One Kobe Family” Global Fair 2025 was held in Taipei, Taiwan. The event included courtesy visits to National Chengchi University (NCCU), National Taiwan University (NTU) and Taipei Medical University (TMU), Study in Japan Fair 2025 (Taiwan) organized by JASSO and an alum gathering. It aimed to strengthen partnerships with Asian universities, expand study-abroad opportunities for both international and Kobe University students and enhance connections with overseas alums—including former international and Japanese students—to further develop the university’s global alum network.

The delegation was led by President FUJISAWA Masato, accompanied by Executive Vice President TAMAKI Hisashi, director of Institute for Promoting International Partnerships; Executive Vice President OKUMURA Hiroshi; KAWAI Naruo, section head of the Global Education Center (GEC); NAKAZAWA Minato, director of the Asia & Oceania Division, Institute for Promoting International Partnerships and professor at the Graduate School of Health Sciences; and YU Wenhsin, project assistant professor of GEC. Staff from the Global Engagement Division, the Alumni Affairs and Endowments Division and the International Exchange Division also participated.

From September 18–19, the delegation paid courtesy visits to partner universities including NCCU, NTU and TMU, with which Kobe University has enjoyed long-standing collaborative relationships under inter-university academic cooperation agreements.

At NCCU, the delegation met with faculty members of the Department of Japanese Language and Literature, including Ping Chieh Yeh, associate professor and chief; Natsuo Santoh, associate professor; and Hsiang-Jung Chin, assistant professor. They exchanged views on strengthening collaboration, particularly in the area of student exchange during the meeting.

At NTU, the delegation met with Andrew Tsung, executive director for International Affairs, Office of International Affairs (OIA); Chin-Kuo Chang, associate professor at the department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Public Health; and Sheila Wu, manager for Global Engagement, OIA. The discussion focused on strategies to enhance collaboration for upcoming joint projects.

At TMU, the delegation from Kobe University met with Executive Vice President Pei-Shan Tsai and 12 other staff members to discuss collaborative initiatives in medical device engineering, including joint research projects and opportunities for student exchange.

At the Study in Japan Fair 2025 held at the Taipei World Trade Center on September 20–21, Kobe University staff members, with support by former students, introduced the university to local students considering study in Japan. 3,931 participants were in attendance over the course of the two-day event, with around 230 visiting the Kobe University booth. The staff answered questions from prospective students and provided information on academic programs, scholarships and daily life in Kobe.

On September 20, 55 Kobe University alums from various years and industries gathered for an alum event. They shared updates on their lives after graduation and exchanged contact information, thereby strengthening their ties with the university and fellow graduates.

Building on the outcomes of the “One Kobe Family” Global Fair 2025 Taiwan, Kobe University will continue fostering exchange and collaboration between the two countries in education, research and community engagement.
